The environmental challenges of the 21st century – climate change, biodiversity loss, depletion of natural resources, ecosystem degradation, and social sustainability issues – are complex problems that cannot be addressed by a single universal methodology or standard. Different fields require different scientific approaches, measurement systems, and evaluation methods. However, what must be common to all credible standards is quality, transparency, scientific foundation, and trust.
This recognition gave birth to the Credit Standard™ framework.
Credit Standard™ is an open, international standards system that brings together independent environmental and sustainability standards under a common quality assurance approach. The system's goal is not to create a single methodology, but to provide a unified framework in which different scientific fields can develop their own standards independently, while meeting the same quality and integrity requirements.
The foundation of this common approach is the Quality Credit Framework™ – a quality standard that defines the principles and requirements that are mandatory for all standards within the Credit Standard™ ecosystem. These include transparent governance, scientific foundation, documentation, credible verification, data management, traceability, and continuous improvement.
Credit Standard™ is developed and coordinated by OurOffset Nonprofit LLC in collaboration with strategic development partners. The system is open to collaboration with academia, universities, civil organizations, technology partners, and market participants.
Independent standards. Common quality. Global trust.
